Yes, news trading is allowed on all Cyber Funded accounts. Placing trades during economic news events does not represent a rule violation by default. However, specific rules apply to the profits generated during these periods to ensure fairness and consistency in our risk framework.
Profit limitations during high-impact news events
To manage risk around volatile market conditions, Cyber Funded enforces the following limitation:
Trades opened or closed (either manually or automatically via SL/TP/pending orders) within 5 minutes before or after the release of high-impact news events (as shown by a red folder on ForexFactory.com) are subject to a maximum allowable profit of 1% of the account’s initial balance.
This rule applies to:
- ALL accounts where it’s allowed the news trading during evaluation and funded models.
- Swing accounts are the only exception: they do not have any time restriction for the news trading.
What happens if the profit exceeds 1%?
If a trade executed during the restricted window exceeds the 1% profit cap:
- Only the first 1% of profit will be retained.
- Any excess profit will be removed from the account as a Soft Breach.
- A maximum of 2 Soft Breaches per challenge type is allowed for news trading. Upon the third Soft Breach, the account will be permanently suspended.
Example:
Dual Protocol Phase 1 → 1st Soft Breach
Dual Protocol Phase 2 → 2nd Soft Breach
Funded Phase → If a 3rd Soft Breach occurs → Account suspension
Losses during news events
All losses incurred within the restricted news trading window remain fully the trader’s responsibility and are not adjusted.
News profit split calculation
At the end of the trading cycle, profits from high-impact news events are recalculated according to the following rule:
Only 1% of the total profit generated from news-event trades can be retained.
This adjustment occurs after the cycle ends.
Example Calculation on a 100,000 account:
Total profit (excluding news): $10,000
- Profit from news-event trades: $3,000
- Allowed news profit: 1% of initial balance = $1,000
- Total retained profit = $10,000 + $1,000 = $11,000
What happens if my account goes negative after adjustment?
If the post-adjustment balance drops below the initial account balance (e.g., due to high news-trade adjustments or prior losses), then:
No payouts can be requested until your account finishes a new cycle above the starting balance. We will communicate the issue and the remaining profit to achieve in order accept your new payout request.
Trade Management & News Relevance
Traders may hold open positions during news events, this is not restricted. Only high-impact news events directly tied to the currency in the trading pair will trigger the 1% profit rule.
Examples:
- Trading EUR/USD during high-impact USD or EUR news → Rule applies
- Trading EUR/USD during high-impact CNY news → Rule does not apply
Disclaimer
Trading during major news events carries increased risk due to:
- Sharp volatility
- Execution delays
- Potential slippage
Stop Loss, Take Profit, and Pending Orders may not execute at the expected price during these times. Traders are advised to be fully aware of the risks and ensure their strategies are appropriate for such conditions.
Dual Protocol Standard/Triple Core/Neon Step/Instant Funding News Trading: Trades opened or closed (either manually or automatically via SL/TP/pending orders) within 5 minutes before or after the release of high-impact news events (as shown by a red folder on ForexFactory.com) are subject to a maximum allowable profit of 1% of the account’s initial balance.
